Aphorisim

“Yesterday is History, Today is a Gift, Tomorrow is a Mystery.”

This is the official logo of tomorrow land. My dream is to go to this 3-day concert in Belgium and party 24/7. I’m in a complete agreement with this aphorism because yesterday is something that all ready happened, and you cant do anything to change it. Tomorrow you don’t know that is going to change or happen so the future is something that you should be afraid of, but not letting it determine who you are right now. Today is what count and make the best of today because you might not know what happens tomorrow.

Siddhartha 4

These last pages of the book made everything clear. It was when Siddhartha struggles to keep his relationship with his son, but his son was not willing to do that. Also in this part Siddhartha learns a lot from Vasudeva who later returns to the woods after he has help Siddhartha with everything in order to reach his enlightenment and gives him the role of the ferryman. Siddhrthas and his old friend Govinda reunite. Govinda has a lot of question about wisdom and how to achieve inner peace, but Siddhartha only makes Govinda  kiss his  forehead and since that moment Govida knew that Siddhartha was Buddha. I think what what caused Siddhartha the most change was when he felt he had lost something; his son. This relationship was very important to the course of the book.

The constant struggle between Siddhartha and his son was a really important part of the book. Not only because it would make Siddhartha think what he did of leaving his house and leaving everything there, but also that in order for a person lo love you, you need to be there with them. This fight I can also apply it to teen-agers life because sometimes our parents need to know when they have to stop controlling us and give us more freedom. . Also its really important for us and our parents as well to understand that theres a point when you cant handle the situation anymore because you are feeling pressure or you just don’t want to be there and that point can cause leaving those that you love. Just like Siddharthas son did. He just stole a boat and ran away.  “You just don’t get me dad” was a phrase that Siddhartha’s son said. I always say it to my mother when she doesn’t understand my actions or doesn’t let me do something. This book also made me think about how parents feel as well.  When we don’t pass time with them and forget that they are there. I hope that this story can improve my relationship with my mom and don’t let it get to the point that there’s no going back and things are totally ruined.

In the end this book gives us a variety of things to think and take in count that we do or not do. It has a lot of ideas that are true and deserve trying. I hope that Siddhartha’s teaching can help me in the future and can help my relationship with my parents and be aware of what we have before it  leaves.

metamorphoses

1) Why does Erysichthon cut down the tree?
Erysichthon after alot of time demanding to cut the tree was basically because they needed the wood. He also says "It's only a tree that the gooddes like." And he cuts it down

2) Define piety.
Piety according to the dictionary is: reverence for God or devout fulfillment of religious obligations: a prayer full of piety.

3) How does this term relate to Erysichthon?
This term realtes because Etysichthon always wants more and he insults everyone like "Get off me, you, pious son of a bitch!"  Also when he sells his mom.

4) What connections can be made between this scene and this children's story?
I think that the "children shorty" is something we still se today alot. If something that is not realistic is said by a small kid its really common that adults do not believe the kids. This happen when the girl said that poseidon had taken away the mother.

5) Relate the events in this scene to a specific passage in Siddhartha.

Siddhartha 2

Chapter 2

Throughout this chapter that basically explained the what happened to Siddhartha and how he can grow as a person he also realizes that he can find himself by being alone and appreciating his surroundings something he didn’t do before.

In this blog post I’m going to connect what happened to Siddhartha to several things. The first connection I want to make is that we can see that the teachings of the Tao are shown in this book. When Siddhartha is in the river valley with the fisher man he gets to see what is the importance of everything and more of the river "You need to learn from the river". I think this river has a purpose of being so important and its going to have a big role in the rest of the book.

I want to continue reading and seeing what can happens with Siddhartha's job and his relationship with Kamala.

Siddhartha 1

Chapter 1:

I think the first chapter was crucial for what may happen later on in the book. Siddharthas growth as well as the paths he takes to achieve inner peace. This involves joining a group of Samanas who are people that want to reach enlightenment through sacrifice. Once Siddhartha leaves the Samanas, he decides to seek englightenment through Buddha, but he chooses to go his own way and teach himself inner peace. After reading this part many question arose.

Why did he want to go to the Samanas if he could stay with his family in a really rich and comfortable environment? This is my main question because him going away from everything that he has to be very important for the corse of the book. This leads me to another question which is: How would this affect him in the future? the decision of leaving everything and everyone has to be very difficult so how will that change him later on.

Im looking forward to reading more of the book and clarify my questions and help give me adivice to how you should live your life and not follow the normal paths, but go your own way.

Story fo Tao

The first song is Father and son. This i can turn into a story becuase its a dialogue between two people in this case the father and the son. I can also conect this to the tao becuase its giving advice the dad to the son. He is also saying that the dad had to go to what the kid is going throw.

The second song is Heal the world. We can tur it into a story maybe by someone saying that there is a better place that we still have to discover if we try and its better for all of us. We can turin it also into a story in the idea that we need to protect nature just like the tao said.

The third song is Human Nature  this itsI thinnk the hardest one to turn into a story, but it can be maybe a story of the way people are harming the eviorment and saying that nature hs like "feeling" so it can be maybe a sotry narrated by nature for example a dialouge between trees or something.

TAO

Father and son

Father oh Father
hear me if you can
is it true what they say
that life is a dream
i don't understand
the things that make rain in my eyes
are they real or are they lies

You know i hear so much about you now
i'd give anything
to go on a little boat with you
talk about the scheme of things
on a little boat with you

Father oh Father
guide me if you can
or give me the chance to follow you home
i am your son but i wish i knew you
when you were young
were you lonely as a boy

You know i'd give so much to see you now
i'd go anywhere
pick a little stick and walk with you
talk about the scheme of things
on a short walk with you
[From: http://www.elyrics.net]

Father oh Father
you give me just a little hope
i feel something out there reaching for me
well here i am
won't you take me with you
out of this maze
and away from this place

Because it gets so cold and lonely here
i'll do anything
to sit on a little rock with you
talk about the scheme of things
on a small rock with you

Show me show me show me the way
before they grind me down
and bleach me grey
send me power not to be afraid
and when i close my eyes
let me see you once in the light

Father oh Father
heal me if you can
is it true what they say
that life is a dream

"Heal The World"

There's A Place In
Your Heart
And I Know That It Is Love
And This Place Could
Be Much
Brighter Than Tomorrow
And If You Really Try
You'll Find There's No Need
To Cry
In This Place You'll Feel
There's No Hurt Or Sorrow

There Are Ways
To Get There
If You Care Enough
For The Living
Make A Little Space
Make A Better Place...

Heal The World
Make It A Better Place
For You And For Me
And The Entire Human Race
There Are People Dying
If You Care Enough
For The Living
Make A Better Place
For You And For Me

If You Want To Know Why
There's A Love That
Cannot Lie
Love Is Strong
It Only Cares For
Joyful Giving
If We Try
We Shall See
In This Bliss
We Cannot Feel
Fear Or Dread
We Stop Existing And
Start Living

Then It Feels That Always
Love's Enough For
Us Growing
So Make A Better World
Make A Better World...

Heal The World
Make It A Better Place
For You And For Me
And The Entire Human Race
There Are People Dying
If You Care Enough
For The Living
Make A Better Place
For You And For Me

And The Dream We Were
Conceived In
Will Reveal A Joyful Face
And The World We
Once Believed In
Will Shine Again In Grace
Then Why Do We Keep
Strangling Life
Wound This Earth
Crucify Its Soul
Though It's Plain To See
This World Is Heavenly
Be God's Glow

We Could Fly So High
Let Our Spirits Never Die
In My Heart
I Feel You Are All
My Brothers
Create A World With
No Fear
Together We'll Cry
Happy Tears
See The Nations Turn
Their Swords
Into Plowshares

We Could Really Get There
If You Cared Enough
For The Living
Make A Little Space
To Make A Better Place...

Heal The World
Make It A Better Place
For You And For Me
And The Entire Human Race
There Are People Dying
If You Care Enough
For The Living
Make A Better Place
For You And For Me

Heal The World
Make It A Better Place
For You And For Me
And The Entire Human Race
There Are People Dying
If You Care Enough
For The Living
Make A Better Place
For You And For Me

Heal The World
Make It A Better Place
For You And For Me
And The Entire Human Race
There Are People Dying
If You Care Enough
For The Living
Make A Better Place
For You And For Me

There Are People Dying
If You Care Enough
For The Living
Make A Better Place
For You And For Me

There Are People Dying
If You Care Enough
For The Living
Make A Better Place
For You And For Me

You And For Me
You And For Me
You And For Me
You And For Me
You And For Me
You And For Me
You And For Me
You And For Me
You And For Me
You And For Me
You And For Me

Heal the world we live in, save it for our children
Heal the world we live in, save it for our children
Heal the world we live in, save it for our children
Heal the world we live in, save it for our children

"Human Nature"
[1st Verse]
Looking Out
Across The Night-Time
The City Winks A Sleepless Eye
Hear Her Voice
Shake My Window
Sweet Seducing Sighs

[2nd Verse]
Get Me Out
Into The Night-Time
Four Walls Won't Hold Me Tonight
If This Town
Is Just An Apple
Then Let Me Take A Bite

[Chorus]
If They Say -
Why, Why, Tell 'Em That Is Human Nature
Why, Why, Does He Do Me That Way
If They Say -
Why, Why, Tell 'Em That Is Human Nature
Why, Why, Does He Do Me That Way

[3rd Verse]
Reaching Out
To Touch A Stranger
Electric Eyes Are Ev'rywhere
See That Girl
She Knows I'm Watching
She Likes The Way I Stare

[Chorus]
If They Say -
Why, Why, Tell 'Em That Is Human Nature
Why, Why, Does He Do Me That Way
If They Say -
Why, Why, Tell 'Em That Is Human Nature
Why, Why, Does He Do Me That Way
I Like Livin' This Way
I Like Lovin' This Way

[4th Verse]
Looking Out
Across The Morning
The City's Heart Begins To Beat
Reaching Out
I Touch Her Shoulder
I'm Dreaming Of The Street

[Chorus]
If They Say -
Why, Why, Tell 'Em That Is Human Nature
Why, Why, Does He Do Me That Way
If They Say -
Why, Why, Tell 'Em That Is Human Nature
Why, Why, Does He Do Me That Way
I Like Livin' This Way
[Repeat Chorus - Ad-Lib/Fade-Out]
